Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

My mother wanted to get her granddaughter a safe, affordable, non-toxic play kitchen for Christmas. After researching reviews and product descriptions, I insisted she get this one because it was under $100, didn't have the usual pink/purple color scheme that many other kitchens had, and I thought it was made entirely of plywood, not MDF / particleboard which often contains high levels of formaldehyde that off-gas into your home. The description on Amazon says, "Quality crafted from Baltic Birch plywood - Some easy assembly is required. Durable child safe paint finish and solid wood construction are hallmarks of Hape toys." I guess they weren't technically lying (it is PARTIALLY made of plywood), but purposely omitted that the entire back and inside of the cabinet are made of flimsy MDF, NOT plywood. Had I discovered this before my husband put it together for Christmas morning, I would have sent it back, but now it is too late. I will not be buying any more Hape products because I do not trust their descriptions; who is to say they are telling the truth about using "child safe paint"?
