Heartbreakingly Greedy
EA's continuing disregard for its fanbase continues with SimCity, a game that boasts the following "features": - Always-on internet connection. Want to play the game you purchased somewhere that doesn't have a stable internet connection (airplanes, rural areas, etc)? Congrats. You can't. - Forced multiplayer. Ever play a previous SimCity game and think "This is great, but I wish my city were affected by the pollution and crime in the poorly-run cities of complete strangers by no fault of my own."? No, nobody has. Apparently EA thinks otherwise. - Enjoy picking up the older SimCity games and replaying those? This one will be dead in a few years when EA releases SimCity2 shuts down the servers. You're welcome. - Once more and more DLC and microtransactions come out the game will be sure to remind you of your soft incompatibility with other players and give you the option to buy the content that your peers did. Constantly. - Server issues? Don't worry, EA will simply ask you to roll back to the last good save game they have for you. Don't worry if that's tens of hours of progress gone. - You'll also need to use Origin to run the game. It's kind of like Steam, but nobody you know uses it. It's a pity, Maxis could have made possibly the finest game of the year with SimCity, but EA's pursuit of anti piracy measures and their desire to ensnare DLC/microtransaction customers means they are more than willing to burden their customerbase with hassles and headaches without a second thought.
