I see so many positive reviews on this book and it's like I read a different book entirely. It was AWFUL. For one thing, has the author ever heard of contractions? Usually when people don't use a contraction, they're trying to place emphasis on something, but this author hardly uses any contractions at all, which has the effect of over-emphasizing every single sentence in the entire book. It was crazy making. Also, many of the sentences were awkward and unwieldy. It was like having three pieces in a sentence that only required two pieces. There were many times that even re-reading sentences multiple times didn't provide any enlightenment. And one sentence actually managed to use "waving frantically" and "frantically waving" in the SAME SENTENCE! This book had me tearing my hair out I was so frustrated. That said, I only managed to finish 37%, so maybe the writing got better? I'm SO glad this was my Kindle Lending Library selection instead of paying money for it. The story made me curious, but I could not get over the bad writing (see contraction not used in order to place emphasis!). I will seriously stay far away from this author in the future.
