Watch out for Fake USB drives
I tried to purchase this DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 twice from 2 different sellers on Amazon.com and once it was actually fulfilled by Amazon. Each time the USB drive was fake.
How to tell if it is real or not
When it is in the packaging:
- The entire package is plastic wrapped (the kind you have to cut open with scissors) because the drive sits freely on top of the paper insert that describes the drive. Fake drives only have the drive itself encased in plastic and you can touch the paper because the plastic covering is sandwiched between the front and back.
When it is out of the packaging:
- Check for the light blue color inside the USB connector (fake ones have black plastic) and if the silver part of the USB connector is laser etched.

I've given up on buying one from Amazon.
Edit: after working with Kingston counterfeiting ( Counterfeit@kingston.com ) twice, the third order from Amazon was genuine. They explained that a fake USB drive was returned and got into the Amazon genuine supply. They assured me that Amazon had purged any fake USB drives from the warehouse before I ordered it.
