Although this product worked effectively at the recommended dosage to kill algae in our fish pond, it also caused the death of almost 40 Koi. The product label does advise that pond water must be aerated to counter a drop in oxygen level that occurs as the algae die. Evidently, the aeration produced by our pond's waterfall wasn't effective enough to introduce sufficient oxygen to the water to support aquatic life. Subsequently, I researched numerous articles on algae control written by pond experts. In every article, the author either warns pond owners to exercise extreme caution if they elect to use an algaecide and to treat only a portion of a pond at any one time -or- advises pond owners to employ other methods for algae control, such as pond cleaning, shade, and ultraviolet light to control its' growth.
