Where the heck is Thom?!!? I'm ashamed to have hoped for this show to be something akin to its namesake. I now have no desire to watch this. If you've read the books, you know where I'm coming for. For those of you who haven't read the books and are enjoying it as a normal fantasy show, don't ever read the books. You will wish the show was more and you'll understand too well the anger and disappointment of the fans. The casting was at best.... subpar. This may have been budgeting issues or it could have been people trying to give their friends some spotlight who the hell knows. But the entire show is rushed. The dragon isn't supposed to be a woman... so the line about "man or woman" makes no sense AT ALL. This isn't some anti-feminism thing I'm stating, I'm saying this because the entire point of the Dragon being a threat is because he goes mad using Saidin, which is volatile power that is controlled by the Dark One and seduces you. Saidar, what the women channel is extremely calm and does not cause the madness. So for the Dragon to be any of the women removes all sense of disaster.... they would channel Saidar, thus not be susceptible to the madness, thus no breaking of the World will occur and the Dark One's seal can just be ignored. The poor job the first episode did of introducing Saidar and Saidin will probably be replicated again and again. Just take Rand Al'Thor for example... in the books this guy was extremely popular and well loved, not some broody teenager pining after Egwene who looks NOTHING like she does in the books. Its like the producer didn't even try to find people that matched the descriptions from the books. The only people who they /almost/ got right were Rand's father and Mat. Padan is also not a bad choice. And Moiraine was a good choice but the rushed vibe and lack of character building did her no favoers. I really don't want to think how they're going to handle Cadsuane. Or even Siuan Sanche and Alric. This is going to be a mess and Amazon needs to just remove the Wheel of Time name from this garbage and call it something else because this has no bearing at all on the books.
