Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

First off, I’d like to say that I read many reviews and looked at multiple culinary torches before settling on this one. The review that sticks out in my mind is the one that warns people against this torch, for it cannot be shut off. I thought to myself, no way. That can’t happen, there’s almost always a way to control the flame/shut off a torch. I filtered through a few more torches before coming back to this one. Maybe I was feeling a bit bored, I’m sure some of you in quarantine can relate to the immense and desperate desire to do something else (safely.) Maybe the possibility of me not being able to control something so dangerous was exciting. Maybe I was tired of reading about them and just wanted to settle and buy a torch. I digress, product was purchased, that dreadful, but invigorating review was just a footnote on a file in an endless field of filing cabinets in my brain. My package arrived this evening. I filled it with butane, and let it rip. And rip it did. While filling it while butane, I noticed an unfamiliar hissing sound which was my first red flag. The second red flag was when a giant flame erupted from the tip. The third red flag was when I could not control the flame and the fourth and final red flag was when I could not shut it off. In total, that’s four red flags which is three too many for myself. I really did not hold merit to that review warning people against this product, but I wish I had in retrospect. Please, dear shopper, please do NOT buy this torch. I’m sure any other will be better, and you’ll save yourself from the panic and absolute terror I put myself through.
