After two years of using this product - the most horrific thing occurred - the steamer blew up quite literally in flames. I am so appalled by the quality of the product which put me, my loved ones and my apartment at risk. I was using this garment steamer as per usual, filled the water etc. I went to organize my garments, started steaming some and putting them away ready for the work week. After 5 or so minutes, the steamer started crackling loudly and emitting smoke. Strong smells of plastic followed, and the bottom of the steamer was visibly on FIRE. I immediately tried to put it out with water after unplugging the machine. In doing so I was putting myself in danger as the machine kept spitting burnt plastic some of which had flames that landed on the floor. I ended up with large PERMANENT damage on my hard wood floors. I cannot believe that this happened for a product that was ranked so highly. What is worse is that there appears to be no recourse - who are these manufacturers? Stick with the name brands - at least you’ll have someone to sue if your house burns down.
