I got this to use as the main light in my house when there is power failure. I have several other lights that are meant to serve as back-up/emergency lights, and these are smaller and put at strategic places in my house. Living alone in the mountains makes preparedness absolutely necessary. At 1000 lumens, the brightness of this light is more than sufficient for the normal activities that I execute while inside my house. Changing the batteries and reinstalling the housing are also not a pain as compared to doing the same with a competitor's I purchased a while back. Let us be aware that the phrase 'water-resistant' does not mean 'waterproof'. It would have been of more help if the manufacturer had provided the IP rating of this light. Nevertheless, that is not a big deal for me, as I do not intend to use this light in the rain. I would recommend this light, although I, of course, cannot comment on the strength of its water resistance.
