Terrible change to what was once a great shoe
Come on, Asics, you are so much better than this. I am an avid runner and have been running in Asics since the model 17 series. 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 were all great shoes. 22 was a disaster, 23 was a partial remedy, and then the 24 and 25 models have been great again. Now the 26 comes along and it's complete crap. Twice the cushion around the back of the heel/achilles pushes the foot forward just enough that it only took 6 miles to know that these would have my toenails falling off in no time as they are pushed up and rub against the front of the toe box. This is on top of a recent pair of the Gel Kayano 25 "Liteshow" model that pushes my outer toe against the edge of the insole, causing a blister on a 9 miles run (I am training for an Ironman, so the miles are typical of my training right now).
I need shoes I can count on from model to model, shoes I can buy with utmost confidence that they will fit and not cause injury. Asics doesn't do that anymore.
I don't know if this issue is because Amazon seems to be turning into a place for companies to get rid of cut-rate/defective products, or because (as I've seen in other recent reviews) Asics moved from China to a new plant in Vietnam for their manufacturing. But I need to be able to count on quality products that don't wreck my feet.
I wish someone from Asics would contact me and explain why I've had two pairs of crap shoes after years of perfectly good ones. But as with most large companies, I expect a global shrug. I can shrug too. I'll be going to my local running store this weekend and buying shoes from their competitors. I suggest others do the same.
