★☆☆☆☆
Utterly worthless
I saw Ray being interviewed on TV, so bought his book. While I thought the first 50 - 100 pages were interesting talking about how he built his hedge fund Bridgewater, that's about it. This book is 541 pages long, and once you get past the first 50 - 100 he starts pontificating at excruciating detail, lecturing on the laws of the universe and nature and just about every other topic you can imagine and then some you can't imagine. He then goes on to lecture about things he's learned over his lifetime, such as "people's brains are wired differently than others". Wow. This has only been known since the book "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus", and probably back to the time before Shakespeare, but with him, it goes on & on & on. All of this to impress you with what he's learned, how he has lectured heads of European countries as to how global economics work (he even provides the link to the 30 minute video he made to teach them), his friendship with the Dali Lama, etc., etc., etc. I really tried to read this book, forcing myself to over 200 pages, but when I realized that I had another 300+ to go, I couldn't stand it anymore. Whoever edited this book should be banned from the industry it is so long winded. An excellent book to gift to someone that you don't like.
