FDA issues warning: this food linked to chronic heart disease in dogs!
The FDA released an extensive report on 27 June 2019 specifically naming Taste of the Wild as being suspect of causing chronic heart disease in dogs. The disease, canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), is life threatening and specifically linked to the heavy use of peas and other legumes as main ingredients, with Taste of the Wild being in the group of dog foods most frequently cited by veterinarians and pet owners as causing DCM.
This was a 5-year clinical study with data from more than 500 veterinarians across the country--the largest ever scientific study of its kind.
The full study is easy to read and gives a clear conclusion: Taste of the Wild and any food with a similar formula is a danger to dogs.
The full study can be found on the FDA site, and Amazon should link to the study in the product description and issue a warning about this product (if they choose to continue selling it at all).
