★★☆☆☆
Could be good, but it isn't
The first thing this app did was put a stupid notification in my status bar reminding me "Don't forget to use Photo Lab over the holiday weekend." Wow! Irritated but not completely done with the app, I searched for a settings menu where I could expectantly disabled such annoyances in the future. Not only could I not locate such a setting, I couldn't locate any settings menu at all. Apparently this app has NO user configurable options!
Other gripes: Can't select pictures from your native gallery app. Can't select a picture to modify without first choosing the frame or effect you want to apply; this makes trying out different effects on the same photo extremely clumsy. Additionally, face detection, an important aspect of some of the effects, is unreliable. Sometimes it will work for a given picture and then moments later not work on the same image.
Finally, images you create seem to be left on a server until you decide to download them. Not sure I want VicMan LLC to have my photos.
All in all, some the effects look interesting but the app is too cumbersome to make it worth using and unsolicited notifications which can't be disabled are a deal breaker for me. I'm glad I didn't pay for this one. I got it for free and uninstalled in one day. There are much better photo apps out there.
p.s. Thanks Dev for ceaselessly reminding me to rate your app, otherwise I might have forgotten to warn people how underwhelming your software really is.
