Not as good as described
I understand the cable was mentioned for headphone extension, but TRRS extension cable is not a rocket science, and I even particularly look for “shielded” cable, which this cable description mentioned few times in few ways for maximum reduction of noise. This is the only shielded cable listed on Amazon as I can find so far, and I’m again disapointed. 1. Signal quality: I target to use this shielded cable to solve buzzing noise issue of extending Rode Lav mic to Canon camera. Turning out each of the 2 cables I received induced more noise than my current unshielded cheaper cables. Chaining 2 cables together introduce even the noisiest recordings I’ve ever experienced. Obviously the shielding mechanism of these cables are problematic and magnifying more noise then not shielding. 2. The gold plating TRRS male stud is not as smooth as a 10-20 years ago cheap standard 3.5mm jack, it looks as if a nowadays cheap China poor finishing, just that this doesn’t look the cheapest, but at the first glance you know it’s not anything you expect mentioned as premium. 3. The 3.5mm plug is loose going into my Canon camera while my all other really branded premium cables won’t have problems. It’s obviously not fully comply standard 3.5mm plug specifications. I’m not sure if the noisy issue is due to the failed earth contact with these loose plugs. This is just a quick comparison with other cheaper extension cables about its noise induction. It may not be as obvious on headphone but I’ll let you decide it, as it’d also affect inline mic reception. I’ve packed them and returning them.
